Getting a U.S. internship interview is a big win. Now comes the next part: acing it. Here's how to prepare, make a strong impression and get the offer.

Do your research

Know the company. Research the company and the exact position. Learn their mission, values and current projects, then show how your skills fit what they need.

Know your interviewers. If you can, look up who's interviewing you. It helps you tailor your answers to what they care about.

Practice makes perfect

Do mock interviews. Practice with friends, family or a career counselor, using common internship questions.

Prepare your answers. Expect questions like "Tell me about yourself" or "Why this internship?" Have short, clear answers that show your strengths.

Practice behavioral questions. These ask how you handled a situation in the past. Use the STAR method (Situation, Task, Action, Result) to structure your answer.

Be confident and professional

First impressions count. Dress professionally for your video interview and pick a quiet, well-lit spot. Log in a few minutes early to test your tech. Look at the camera and keep a positive, upbeat attitude.

Speak clearly. Keep it clear and concise. Avoid filler words like "um" or "like".

Bring questions. Have a few good questions ready about the internship and the company culture. It shows real interest.

Be yourself

Let your personality show. Don't be afraid to show who you are and how excited you are, while staying professional.

Talk about what drives you. Share your academic interests and career plans, and why this field excites you.

Follow up. Send a thank you email right after the interview. Repeat your interest and mention a key point you discussed.

Prepare well and you'll walk in ready to impress. Confidence, enthusiasm and showing what you bring to the team are what get you the offer.
